"Doesn't NAH Guns, Ammo & Optics Columnist Ron Spomer look at little bit like a Sherpa?"
Hey all – Just a quick one before I head to the guys at Thompson/Center.
I received a nice note today from the new North American Hunter “Guns, Ammo & Optics” columnist Ron Spomer. I can’t think of a single person I know who has done more real mountain hunting than Ron. He lives in Idaho – which is known for its rugged country. Ron’s climbed mountains to hunt around the world. He even kind of looks like a Mongolian Sherpa.
Considering his extensive experience, I’m flattered to have Ron watching my progress on the MDS blog, and I take his advice very seriously. Of course, when you get to know Ron you also learn to take his comments with a grain of salt at times, too.
Anyway, Ron sent me a short note congratulating me on my progress so far. He concluded with “…if you keep up at this pace your hunt will only be painful rather than deadly!”
Thanks for the encouragement, buddy … I think!
Here’s the workout report. I’m down another two pounds to 208 for a total loss so far of 29 pounds. With alternating days of weights and running and one day in seven off, Tuesdays have come to be the worst. That’s the toughest running work out when I’m to repeatedly to bring my heart rate up to my top threshold of 178 every 10 minutes for an hour. Nice thing about is each week after Tuesday (which Emerson and I have come to know by some unprintable names), everything else is easy!
Shoot straight –
Bill Miller
