Honset Officer. I Wasn't Feeding The Bears

I’ll take mine rare, and could you please pass the honey?

Did you happen to catch the article about the Oregon woman who was convicted of harassing wildlife this week? According to records, the gal has been feeding black bears on her property near Yachats, Ore. She must have really been dishing out goodies because her dining deeds have gotten her into quite a pickle. It also attracted a pickle barrel full of bears.

Neighbors began to change from neighborly to unfriendly after a series of events. First, a neighbor had a bear break into a barn and kill 60 turkeys. That’s a super-sized Thanksgiving sit-down. Next, a bear became stuck as it tried to enter a residence through a doggie door. Can you say Jenny Craig for bears? In addition, there were numerous reports of residents too scared to go outside for fear of running into the bears loafing in the area. Picture this. It’s a sunny Saturday afternoon and you’re outside barbecuing hot dogs, but when you turn around to set the picnic table, Boo Boo is waiting for his Ball Park Frank.

What’s her sentence? That’s the pickle. She did receive three years probation. No big deal, but it didn’t end there. As reported by FOX News, “Lincoln County Circuit Judge Thomas Branford also ordered her to stay away from her home and a seven-mile stretch of Yachats River Road for three years, beginning Aug. 31.”

I’ll bet she thinks twice before feeding the bears again. And that reminds me, “honey, take those bird feeders down. I don’t want to be homeless.”

Have a great weekend!
