At least my guns are safe for now. What do you mean I have to wait 13 months for my colonoscopy?
OK. You probably don’t have to scratch your head and wonder if I’m a big proponent of the current, desperate (really?) rush to overhaul healthcare reform. Sure there are problems with the system, but do we need more than 2,000 pages of legislation to correct the problems? I think not. Heck the original U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights were written on a handful of pages and it’s been the basis for the sturdiness of our country for more than 200 years.
Hey Congress, take a hint from our forefathers.
Why am I thankful of the healthcare debate? It’s taken up so much time that Congress hasn’t been able to spend time on issues relating to the limiting of my rights to own firearms. In fact, there was even good news this past December. Congress signed on to an amicus brief in the Chicago case to ban guns. Fight-eight senators and 251 members of the House signed on emphasizing that the Second Amendment isn’t just an individual right, but a fundamental right. Another 890 state officials signed on to another amicus brief thus adding even more support that this right should be preserved and guarded against any attacks from state or local governments.
Like healthcare, the right to bear arms is far from over. For the moment other issues are keeping our elected officials from wasting time on interpreting the intentions of our forefathers who wrote in plain English. I understand the Second Amendment. I doubt if I’ll understand the healthcare reform legislation if it passes except for the fact simple fact there will be a lot more red tape and expense tagged with it. Buyer beware.

Had mine last year, I’m good for 10 years. Now if we count on keeping our guns as safe.
I agree The health plan is is need of desperate looking into and hopefully can get something that will help and not hinder. But it is good that they are to busy to think of the gun control and where did the Right To Bear Arms go is that a thing of the past and are they trying to get a russia control . I still think it will be a shame to loose the history and enjoyment of hunting. I really think it is never going to stop the crime since illegal guns will be out there in the black market, and crimes are by those who get the guns illegal not by those who are legal and true to real hunting and being honest.
